Position Overview

This role involves designing and delivering engaging art classes for children ages 5 and up — creating lesson plans, instructing classes, managing classroom dynamics, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

Class Planning & Curriculum Development

• Design new lesson plans or adapt existing ones
• Create original lessons for the studio archive
• Maintain a structured curriculum supporting artistic growth
• Incorporate thematic elements for camps and special events

Instruction & Student Engagement

• Lead art classes, workshops, and camps with clear instruction
• Teach school break camps and weekend birthday parties
• Foster an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment
• Provide personalized feedback to nurture creative development
• Prepare students for the Triannual Showcase

Classroom & Material Management

• Prepare materials and supplies for classes
• Manage classroom behavior and student safety
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom space
• Monitor inventory and flag reorder needs

Communication & Community Engagement

• Maintain regular contact with parents/guardians about student progress
• Participate in community outreach events

Qualifications

• Teaching experience with children ages 5+ in a classroom, camp, or studio setting
• Proficiency in drawing, painting, sculpting, and mixed media
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Passionate about art education
• Flexibility and patience with varying skill levels
• A collaborative team member
• Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, or a related field preferred

Schedule

• Weekday afternoons and evenings
• Weekend afternoons

Reliable transportation is required, and candidates must be located in or able to relocate to Edmond, OK before starting. This is in-person work.
