About Bloomfield Arts & Crafts Studio
At Bloomfield, creativity meets confidence! We’re an arts and crafts studio where kids, teens, and adults learn hands-on skills that inspire imagination and build lifelong confidence. From painting to sewing to crochet, we provide a warm, engaging space for learning through making.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a patient, creative, and engaging Crochet Instructor to teach students ages 8 and older. You’ll guide learners from foundational skills like holding a hook and making basic stitches through more advanced projects. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with children, communicates clearly, and creates a calm, encouraging learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach crochet classes for kids (ages 8+) and beginners using established lesson plans
  • Introduce students to foundational techniques including hook grip, chains, and proper stitching
  • Guide students through skill-building projects with increasing complexity
  • Evaluate and refine existing crochet lesson plans as needed
  • Create new crochet lessons and patterns aligned with studio guidelines
  • Foster a supportive, patient, and creative classroom atmosphere
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and accomplishments
  • Keep the studio workspace organized and safe
  • Assist with other studio activities and classes as needed
  • Help prepare students for the studio’s Triannual Showcase, building skills throughout the session toward their showcase piece

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in crochet (foundations, pattern reading, project completion)
  • Prior teaching or instructional experience, particularly with children
  • Patient, positive, and encouraging disposition; able to engage young learners
  • Experience in creative or extracurricular environments preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility, reliability, and a collaborative, team-first mindset
  • Willingness to assist across creative studio areas

Schedule

  • Weekday afternoons and evenings
  • Weekend mornings and afternoons
  • Average of 10–20 hours per week, based on class schedules and enrollment

Our Core Values

Our work is grounded in five core values that shape our culture and guide our team every day:

Collaborative Spirit — We work together as a team, showing up for each other and for our students so nobody’s carrying the studio alone.

Safety — We prioritize a clean, secure, and healthy environment where every student feels safe to try, mess up, and try again.

Respect — We treat students, parents, and staff with respect and professionalism, in every interaction, every time.

Reliability — We show up when we say we will. Dependability and consistency are how our families come to trust us.

Creativity — We think within and outside the box, and we inspire each other to do the same — because creativity is contagious.

Hiring Process

We believe in a thoughtful hiring process that’s fair to both you and our studio. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Application — Submit your resume and a short cover letter.
  2. Initial Conversation — Selected candidates will be invited to chat about their experience and fit with our studio’s values.
  3. Skill Check-In — A brief, informal demonstration or portfolio review.
  4. References — We’ll reach out to references to learn more about your work and how you show up on a team.
  5. Offer — A job offer is extended to the successful candidate.

We value your time throughout the process and aim to communicate promptly at every step.
