Studio Manager

About the Role

The Studio Manager is the operational linchpin of Bloomfield Arts & Crafts Studio. This is a part-time role (20–25 hours per week) for someone who can walk in, get up to speed fast, and keep everything running without constant direction. You will connect program delivery, instructor performance, trial execution, enrollment readiness, and studio operations into a seamless, revenue-producing system — making every hour count.

What You’ll Own

Studio Operations

  • Ensure the studio opens fully prepared for all scheduled programs every day
  • Confirm rooms, materials, and tools are set before programs begin
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and reset standards throughout operating hours
  • Resolve operational issues immediately — not after programs conclude

Instructor Coordination

  • Confirm instructor attendance and punctuality for every shift
  • Assign instructors based on program needs and skill alignment
  • Step in to cover classes or trial classes when coverage gaps appear
  • Ensure instructors follow all delivery and skill tracking standards

Trial Class Execution

Trial classes are a revenue-critical function. You will:

  • Personally deliver trial classes when needed
  • Ensure every trial follows the approved Trial Class Playbook
  • Confirm instructors assigned to trials are trained and prepared
  • Oversee arrival experience, classroom execution, and the emotional close
  • Ensure no trial ends without a clear next-step path for the family

Enrollment Readiness

  • Confirm enrollment systems are functioning and accessible at all times
  • Ensure staff are prepared to support same-day enrollment conversations
  • Identify and remove friction points in the trial-to-enrollment flow
  • Prevent missed follow-ups due to operational breakdowns

Capacity & Schedule Management

  • Review class fill levels and attendance patterns weekly
  • Identify underutilized capacity and flag opportunities for trials or workshops
  • Adjust instructor assignments to maximize utilization

Instructor Performance

  • Observe classes regularly and reinforce playbook adherence
  • Address execution gaps immediately with coaching and corrective guidance
  • Confirm skill tracking is completed accurately and on time
  • Prevent role creep into sales, enrollment promises, or policy decisions

What You’ll Measure

  • Daily program completion without incident
  • Trial attendance and trial-to-enrollment conversion
  • Instructor coverage consistency
  • Room readiness and cleanliness compliance
  • Capacity utilization trends
  • Execution issues that affect enrollment or retention

Who You Are

  • A natural operator — you notice when things are off and act before they become problems
  • Calm under pressure — you handle disruptions quickly and with minimal impact on families
  • A strong communicator who can coach instructors and support parents with equal confidence
  • Detail-oriented but decisive — you don’t let perfect get in the way of a smooth program day
  • Mission-driven — you believe the experience families have here matters, and you protect it
  • Tenacious and energising — you push through obstacles without losing momentum, and you bring people with you when you do
  • Someone who understands that in a small business, every role matters and no task is beneath you
  • Disciplined about time — yours and everyone else’s — because you know wasted time is wasted capacity

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in or managing a small business, where resources are lean and judgment calls are constant
  • 2+ years in a studio, school, childcare, or similar operations role
  • Proven ability to build or maintain operational systems — scheduling, tracking, workflows — and hold a team to them
  • Comfortable with software and quick to learn new tools; you don’t need hand-holding when a new system is introduced
  • Experience managing or coordinating staff schedules and performance
  • Comfort with enrollment or customer-facing conversion conversations
  • Background in arts, creative education, or youth programming is a plus
Operational discipline is revenue discipline. This role exists to keep the studio running as a reliable, enrollment-ready system every day. If that excites you, we’d love to meet you.
