Position Overview
We’re seeking a patient, creative, and engaging Crochet Instructor to teach students (ages 8 and up) the art of crochet — from the very basics to more advanced projects. You’ll help students learn how to hold a crochet hook, make foundational stitches, read simple patterns, and complete fun, skill-building projects.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with kids, communicates clearly, and creates a calm, encouraging learning environment. You’ll also play a role in refining our crochet lessons to make sure they’re effective, enjoyable, and age-appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Teach crochet classes for kids (ages 8+) and beginners using Bloomfield’s lesson plans.
- Introduce students to crochet foundations — including how to hold the hook, chain, and stitch properly.
- Guide students through fun, skill-building projects that grow in complexity over time.
- Evaluate and enhance existing crochet lesson plans to meet class needs.
- Foster a supportive, patient, and creative classroom atmosphere.
- Communicate with parents about student progress and successes.
- Maintain an organized and safe studio workspace.
- Assist with other studio activities and classes when needed.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in crochet (foundations, reading patterns, and finishing projects).
- Prior teaching or instructional experience — especially with children.
- Patient, positive, and encouraging attitude; able to engage young learners.
- Experience working in creative or extracurricular settings (e.g., art, dance, or craft studios) preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible, reliable, and collaborative team player.
- Comfortable assisting in other creative studio areas when needed.
Schedule
- Weekday evenings
- Weekend mornings & afternoons
- Average of 10–15 hours per week, based on class schedules and enrollment.
Compensation
$14–$15 per hour, based on experience.
