Job Summary

Bloomfield Kids Arts and Crafts Studio is seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Art Instructor to design, lead, and deliver engaging art classes and workshops for children and/or adults. The Lead Art Instructor will be responsible for creating lesson plans, instructing classes, managing classroom dynamics, inventory and ensuring a positive, inspiring environment for students of all skill levels. This role requires a creative individual with a strong background in various art techniques, art history, and a love for teaching and mentoring students. This position will report to the Studio Director.

Responsibilities

Class Planning & Curriculum Development

  • Design engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that cover a range of artistic techniques and materials.
  • Develop and maintain a structured curriculum that encourages artistic growth, creativity, and skill-building.
  • Incorporate themes that align with seasonal camps, special events, or community programs.

Instruction & Student Engagement

  • Lead art classes, workshops, and camps, ensuring all instructions are clear, inspiring, and enjoyable for all participants.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves.
  • Provide personalized feedback and guidance to students to nurture their creative development.

Classroom & Material Management

  • Prepare and organize all materials and supplies needed for each class.
  • Manage classroom behavior and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Ensure a clean and safe classroom environment by organizing supplies and enforcing cleanup procedures.
  • Monitor inventory of art supplies and coordinate reordering when necessary.

Team Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Supervise, and train instructors providing guidance on effective instruction and classroom management.
  • Collaborate with the Studio Director to develop new programs, workshops, or community events.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Communication & Community Engagement

  • Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, or students regarding class progress, upcoming events, and special announcements.
  • Participate in community outreach or promotional events to foster interest in the art program.

Qualifications

Experience:

Experience teaching art to children and/or adults in a classroom, camp, or studio setting. Previous experience as a lead instructor or in curriculum development.

Skills:

  • Proficient in various art techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpting, and mixed media.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills
