About Bloomfield Arts & Crafts Studio

At Bloomfield, creativity meets confidence! We’re an arts and crafts studio where kids, teens, and adults learn hands-on skills that inspire imagination and build lifelong confidence. From painting to sewing to crochet, we provide a warm, engaging space for learning through making.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Art Instructor to design, lead, and deliver engaging art classes and workshops for kids ages 5 and up. You’ll create lesson plans, instruct classes, manage classroom dynamics and inventory, and help ensure a positive, inspiring environment for students of all skill levels.

This is a great fit for a creative individual with a strong background in various art techniques and art history, and a genuine love for teaching and mentoring students.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Class Planning & Curriculum Development

• Design new lesson plans or use Bloomfield’s existing lesson plans, depending on the class
• Create original lesson plans when needed, and contribute them to our lesson archive for future use
• Help maintain a structured curriculum that encourages artistic growth, creativity, and skill-building
• Incorporate themes that align with seasonal camps, special events, or community programs

Instruction & Student Engagement

• Lead art classes, workshops, and camps, ensuring instructions are clear, inspiring, and enjoyable for all participants
• Serve as an instructor for school break camps
• Host weekend birthday parties
• Lead seasonal workshops
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves
• Provide personalized feedback and guidance to nurture each student’s creative development
• Prepare students for the studio’s Triannual Showcase, building their skills throughout the session toward their showcase piece

Classroom & Material Management

• Prepare and organize all materials and supplies needed for each class
• Manage classroom behavior and ensure the safety and well-being of all students
• Keep the classroom clean and safe by organizing supplies and enforcing cleanup procedures
• Monitor inventory of art supplies and flag when reordering is needed

Communication & Community Engagement

• Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, or students regarding class progress, upcoming events, and special announcements
• Participate in community outreach or promotional events to build interest in the art program

Qualifications

• Experience teaching art to kids (ages 5+) in a classroom, camp, or studio setting
• Proficiency in various art techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpting, and mixed media
• Strong organizational, time management, and classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Passionate about art education and inspiring creativity in others
• Flexible, patient, and able to adapt lessons to meet different skill levels
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute to a positive, supportive environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, or a related field preferred

Compensation

$14–$16 per hour, based on experience
